Three Types of People

In her final message at 1208 before she leaves at the end of the year to go plant a recovery church here in Jackson, Myisha preaches on the different types of people at play in the Christmas story.

The Greater & Lesser Light

In this week's Midweek Edition episode, Jamin explains why the sun and the moon are labeled the greater and lesser light in the Genesis creation story. This launches us into conversations about ancient astrology and even takes us into the story of the wisemen in the Christmas story.

Joshua

Just as a "Pedro" might today introduce his name to an English-speaking person as "Peter," so would a Hebrew "Joshua" have introduced himself to a Greek-speaking person as, "Jesus" in the New Testament era. This transliteration reminds us to focus in on the meaning of Jesus' name as the angel communicated it to Joseph in the Christmas story.

Ruah

Today we launch a new series on the Old Testament called, "The Midweek Edition." Today we learn more about the "Ruah"—the Spirit of God—and we look at the places He's seen creating in the Bible, staring with Genesis 1:2.

Son of David

A new series on the Gospel of Matthew kicks off just in time for the Christmas season. Jamin dives into some Greek and Hebrew to help us see the significance of Jesus being the Son of David.

Today's verse once convicted Jamin and ruined his night and everyone else's. He shares his story and encourages us to pay attention to the worldly things we participate in that don't blend well with Christianity.

We learned last week that it's faith alone that saves us, but this week we learn that people have different ways of working this theology into their lives. One of these ways is Christian while the other way makes us an enemy of the cross.

The Servant Songs

Paul calls Jesus a "servant," a powerful image to the people of his time both from a cultural perspective and from within the world of messianic expectation. Jamin takes us deeper into the humility of Jesus that Christians are to imitate and takes us deeper into Isaiah's 4-5 servant songs to show us the prophetic words Jesus was fulfilling in his servanthood.

Prison Letters

Philippians is one of Paul's four letters that he wrote from prison. In this particular letter, he is found celebrating the Kingdom work that is coming out of the imprisonment he's enduring. Jamin reminds us that the Spirit can call us into persecution and gives us the space to take joy in these moments.

New Creation

When we accept Jesus we become a new creation that belongs with the new creation when the Kingdom of Heaven takes over the planet in Revelation. Jamin explains more as he makes his way through Colossians.

Philosophy or Deity?

There are all kinds of things in life that tell us they have all the answers, but Paul understood that Jesus was the answer—for the fullness of deity was found in him. Therefore, all of the things we learn should be submitted and tested against Him.
