Donkeys, Palms, and a Reckoning with Religion

On Palm Sunday, Jesus rides into Jerusalem like a king—but not the kind anyone expected. There’s no war horse, no parade of soldiers—just a donkey and a crowd waving branches. His first royal act? Marching straight into the temple, flipping tables, and disrupting the religious marketplace.

In this message, we look at how Jesus challenges both political power and religious pride. Religion, when rooted in the real presence of God, can be beautiful. But when it becomes an idol—when rules, rituals, and reputations take God’s place—it can become the very thing Jesus came to confront. Palm Sunday isn't just about celebration; it's about clearing out what doesn't belong in the holy places of our hearts.
